At Home With God
John 14:23-29
1. Home is where love is.
a. Binubuklod tayo ng pag-ibig.
Ang ating tema ay tungkol sa "Pagiging Pamilya Metodista". Tayo ay kabilang sa pamilya ng Diyos. At ang nagbubuklod sa pamilya ng Diyos ay pagmamahal sa isa't isa ( ito ang mensahe natin sa nakaraang Linggo, na dapat nating mahalin ang isa't isa) at ngayong Linggong ito, ay tungkol sa ating pagmamahal sa ating Amang Diyos.
14:23 Jesus answered him, "Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
"Making our home with them" - the building blocks that forms God's family is love.
Ang mga bahay natin, karaniwang gawa sa "hollow blocks", mga sementong blocks na walang laman. Isipin ninyo kung mananatili ang mga ito na walang laman, at gagamitin silang poste at pader ng bahay. Mahina sila kung walang laman. Ngunit kung may laman silang semento. Sila ay matibay.
Gayun ding ang tahanan ng Diyos. Ang palaman ng mga bloke ay pagmamahal sa isa't isa. Ang nagpapatibay sa tahanan ng Diyos ay pagmamahal sa Kapatid at sa Panginoon.
b. Pinatitibay ng Pakikinig at Pagsunod sa Salita ng Ama
We prove our love for God by following his commands. Without obedience, ang pag-ibig natin ay mga mambobola lamang. Mga palamuti sa labi na hindi makita sa gawa.
14:23 Jesus answered him, "Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
14:24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me.
2. Home is where we belong.
Home is being with your love ones. The assurance given to us by our lord is his abiding presence.
14:25 "I have said these things to you while I am still with you.
14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.
3. Home is where we find Peace.
14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
Being at home with God is not the same being at home in this world. The world gives peace, but temporal. It gives artificial securities from having worldly wealth and skin deep satisfaction.
The peace that Jesus gives is eternal, and spiritual. It comes from having God, and being with God. Living in his presence is our antidote from troubles and fear.
